Join us in welcoming PMP alum Randall Goosby back to Sarasota for a rare opportunity to experience this rising star perform along with collaborator and pianist Zhu Wang.

Randall Goosby received early recognition when he performed with the New York Philharmonic in a Young People’s Concert at Lincoln Center and became the youngest recipient ever to win the Sphinx Concerto Competition when he was only 13. Randall joined the PMP Orchestra at 15, traveling to Sarasota for the Winter Residency and spending his summers studying at the Perlman Music Program in Shelter Island.

In June of 2021, Goosby’s debut album for Decca entitled “Roots” was released. This celebration of African-American music explores its evolution from the spiritual through to present-day composition. Collaborating with pianist Zhu Wang, Goosby has curated an album paying homage to the pioneering artists that paved the way for him and other artists of color.

On September 11, 2021, violinist Randall Goosby performed at the National September 11th Twentieth Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the 9/11 attacks and the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Goosby performed “Adoration” by Florence Price with pianist Zhu Wang at Ground Zero at 10:00am EDT, in between the first moment of silence symbolizing the fall of the South Tower and ahead of the moment of silence symbolizing Flight 93’s crash in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Goosby and Zhu’s performance of “Adoration,” amidst moments of silence, symbolized the potential for national unity and strength, a universal message advocating friendship, unity and perseverance..
