Polish violinist Magdalena Filipczak has performed throughout the US, UK, Canada and South America in such venues as Wigmore Hall, Barbican Hall, Het Concertgebouw and Carnegie Hall. She has performed with the Tallinn Philharmonic and Cracow Philharmonic.
Magdalena has recorded worldwide for TV and Radio stations including the BBC Radio 3, Polish Radio 2 and Chicago WFMT. She has performed with Peter Frankl, Gilbert Kalish, the London Mozart Trio, Roger Tapping, Donald Weilerstein.
Her debut CD, Essence of Violin, was praised as “...glittering... beguiling... captivating... hauntingly atmospheric” by The STRAD magazine. Magdalena recorded solos with the Royal Northern Sinfonia for Songs to the North Sky by Grammy Award composer, Tim Garland, at the Banff Arts Centre, for Etcetera.
Magdalena graduated from the Guildhall School in London, under Krzysztof Śmietana’s guidance, and studied voice with John Evans. She was awarded a “Young Poland” Scholarship by the Polish Ministry of Culture and is a recipient of a CUNY Graduate Center Fellowship. She taught at the City, University of London; Trinity Laban Conservatoire; and has given master classes in Brazil, Yellow Barn’s YAP, and with The Perlman Music Program.
