The Perlman Music Program has held a Winter Residency in Sarasota since 2004. In 2008, The Perlman Music Program/ Suncoast, Inc. ("PMP/S") was founded to create a permanent home for the program in Southwest Florida.

The Perlman Music Program ("PMP") is a one-of-a-kind professional
development program for some of the most gifted musicians from around
the world, ages 12-20+. PMP students are considered to be the future of classical music. |
| As a recent expansion in programming, the PMP/Suncoast
Education Outreach Program serves the music programs of
Sarasota and Manatee counties schools by presenting PMP alumni as
teaching artists and performers for curriculum-based in-school
experiences including performances and interactive, hands-on training
for orchestra classes. |

All ages of community members
are invited to public free events celebrating the three-week in-school
residency program featuring PMP alumni (October, January, and May) and
the PMP Sarasota Winter Residency (December-January). More than 19,000 attend these events each season.
